One of my favorite things to do in Baltimore Inner Harbor is walking aboard the historic ship USS Constellation.
This is the last all-sail warship built by the U.S. Navy in 1854.
And the best part? You can still walk across its decks, go below the decks, and see for yourself how life was for sailors in the 19th century.
It doesn’t matter if you are a history buff or not, this is one attraction you just cannot miss in Baltimore’s inner harbor.

Baltimore’s Inner Harbor: the Seven Foot Knoll Lighthouse
If you love visiting lighthouses, then you cannot miss the Seven Foot Knoll Ligthouse here.
This small red lighthouse sits in the Inner Harbor and was originally built in 1855.
It was used to guide ships into the Chesapeake Bay.
Nowadays, you can visit this lighthouse as a tourist and click fun photos because it looks completely different from the other buildings around it.
Trust me, this is one of the most unique things to see in Baltimore Inner Harbor.
Visit the National Aquarium
One of the most attractions in Baltimore Inner Harbor is the National Aquarium.
This is a huge aquarium that houses thousands of animals including jellyfish, sharks, crocodiles, and more.
What I love the most here is the Blacktip Reef exhibit where you can see blacktip reef sharks and rays swimming around in Indo-Pacific habitat.
Tthere is also a tropical rainforest and plenty of smaller fun exhibits to explore here.
It doesn’t matter if you are visiting without kids because this is one of those Baltimore attravtions that adults can enjoy too.
See the Baltimore Skyline from Federal Hill
For one of the best views of the Baltimore Inner Harbor, don’t forget to visit Federal Hill Park.
This park sits on a hill south of the harbor and is a great spot for sunset.
You can enjoy amazing views of the water, downtown Baltimore and the surrounding neighborhoods here.

Learn About Maryland’s African American History
Listen, if you are a history buff, then you can absolutely not miss the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture.
It is just a short walk from the Inner Harbor and the best place to learn about the history, culture, and contributions of African Americans in Maryland.
Here, you will learn about everything from slavery and Civil Rights to recent history and culture.
I would highly recommend this museum if you are interested to learn a bit more history of this city.

Look Out Over Baltimore from the Top of the World
Want to enjoy a view of the city from higher ground?
Then, you should head to the Top of the World Observation Level at the Baltimore World Trade Center.
The observation deck is high above the Baltimore Inner Harbor and gives you a 360-degree view of Baltimore and the waterfront.
Just make sure to do this on a clear day so you can actually see and enjoy the city and harbor view.
See Science Come to Life at the Maryland Science Center
Interested in watching science come to life? Then, you should definitely visit this waterfront attraction in Baltimore Inner Harbor.
The Maryland Science Center features lots of fun and interactive exhibits such as dinosaurs, space, physics, and more.
Plus, there is an IMAX theatre and a planetarium to enjoy here too.
This is especially a good place to visit if you are traveling with kids.
Baltimore Inner Harbor: Take a Boat Ride Around the Harbor
Of course, when you are already visiting a harbor, a boat ride is a must.
In fact, it is one of the best ways to see the Baltimore Inner Harbor from a different angle.
There are plenty of boat rides to choose from such as sightseeing cruises, paddle boats, water taxis, and more.
I love getting in the water so this acts a break from all the walking around the harbor!
Plus, the waterfront and Baltimore skyline views are just stunning from the water.
So, if the weather is nice, I would definitely recomment enjoying a boat ride around Baltimore Inner Harbor.

Take a Photo with the Baltimore Sign
If you want an easy photo stop, then you should visit the large Baltimore sign near the waterfront.
Since it is close to the National Aquarium and World Trade Center, you are not going out of your way to cover it.
You just need a few minutes, and then you can keep walking around the harbor.
Walk the Inner Harbor Promenade
This one seems kind of obvious, but yes, one of the best things to do in Baltimore Inner Harbor is to simply walk along the water.
Most importantly, the waterfront promenade connects several major attractions, so you can cover those while walking.
You will also find plenty of benches to sit and watch the boats or enjoy the downtown skyline views when the weather is nice.

Step Inside a Historic Submarine
One of the coolest and most memorable things to do in Baltimore Inner Harbor is stepping inside a submarine.
You can visit the USS Torsk, a World War II-era submarine docked in this harbor.
Walk inside and see the cramped space where the sailors lived and worked.
I found this much more interesting than simply looking at a submarine from the outside
because you get to see the tiny sleeping quarters, machinery, and narrow passageways for yourself.
Since this is a part of the Historic Ships in Baltimore collection, you can easily combine it with some other historic vessels nearby.
Try a Maryland Crab Cake
Okay, let’s be real. You just can’t come to Baltimore and not try a crab cake.
Because Maryland is famous for its blue crabs so crab cakes are a must-try here.
You can find this dish in plenty of restaurants around the Baltimore Inner Harbor in all kinds of budget.
If you want the classic experience, then Phillips Seafood is perfect.

Explore Harbor East
After you have explored the main Baltimore Inner Harbor area, it is time to spend some time in Harbor East as well.
You will find plenty of restaurants, cafes, shops, etc. in this waterfront neighborhood. But what I love the most here is that it gives you more local feel and is not as touristy as other areas.
Here, you will find both local businesses and familiar brands, so there is lots to browse here for shopping enthusiasts.
Browse the Shops Around the Harbor
Of course, a lot of us love shopping when visitin a new town
and if you are one of those too, then you are going to love Baltimore Inner Harbor.
One of the best shopping and dining complexes here is the Harborplace, which is about to undergo a major redevelopment in the fall of 2026.
After the changes, you can find several new restaurants, public spaces, retail space, a food hall, and a rooftop park here.
If you want more variety, then you can head to Harbor East or explore the nearby neighborhoods.
Spend the Evening at Power Plant Live!
For all the night owls, the best place to head to after all the sightseeing is the Power Plant Live!
This entertainment district is just a short walk from the Inner Harbor. Plus, you will find plenty of restaurants, bars, and live entertainment options here.
If you want something more happening, you can always check the Pier Six Pavilion. They host many concerts and events along the waterfront in the summer months.
